Scitech professional learning manager Michael Peter said the awards were presented to two Year 6 students from each of the 824 participating schools to celebrate excellence and passion in science lessons during the year.
“This year, 87 per cent of active WA primary schools registered for the awards,” Mr Peter said.
“We hope that through this award, students will be encouraged to continue developing their science investigation skills in high school and beyond, and maybe go on to achieve great things.”
Nanobiology researcher and Australian hockey player Tristan Clemons and Woodside innovation capability vice president Brian Haggerty addressed students and parents at the launch event.

They spoke about the importance of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) and told personal stories of their pathways into STEM careers.
Each award recipient received an official certificate, free pass to Scitech, Science Encyclopaedia and free 12-month subscription to CSIRO Helix magazine.
