Young volunteer recognised with Zonta award

ZONTA Club of Perth Northern Suburbs has recognised young female volunteers at its annual awards.

Peter Moyes Anglican Community School Year 12 student Simran Vyas received $1000 as winner of this year’s Young Women in Public Affairs Award.

Simran is a school prefect and Anglicare ambassador, recently raised $600 for Street Connect and founded Our Blue Earth, which collects rubbish from beaches.

Finalists were Georgia Brice, of St Mary’s Anglican Girls’ School, and Perth College’s Keeley Sermon.

Zonta International also celebrated its 100th anniversary at the awards night, held at Ambrose Estate in Wembley.
