THE eyes of juniors at Floreat Athena Football Club are firmly fixed on their senior counterparts as they prepare to take on Adelaide Olympic in the FFA Cup.

The Leederville-based club has made it to the round of 32 in the national competition for the second time in three years.

They face Adelaide Olympic in Adelaide on July 24, after beating Sorrento in the WA finals.

Captain Dean Evans said the “tight group” was looking forward to the challenge.

“The boys are excited to travel over there,” he said.

“We want to work for each other.”

Goalkeeper Jason Saldaris said they were still preparing “week by week” with its Belt Up Cup State final against Bayswater City to come on July 20.

The club boasts more than 300 junior players, including 28 girls up from nine last year, and Evans hoped they could secure a win and a home match to play in front of their members.

Floreat, Bayswater and Perth Glory are the only WA clubs remaining in the competition, which started with nearly 750 clubs from across Australia.
