Evil drug trade calls for harsh punishments

I do not live in the area in which it is distributed but I shall in future make sure my friend passes on her copies when we meet.

I did note one letter regarding the prisoners on death row in Bali and the efforts to save their lives. However, then I read in another newspaper of the growing problems we are experiencing with the synthetic drug ice.

It seems Perth is becoming awash with this despicable drug. I regard the producers and distributers of this product as urban terrorists.

It causes many deaths, burglaries and assaults by Australians who have become addicted.

I hear of parents who have children addicted to ice and the problems they suffer when the addicts need money to fuel their uncontrollable desire for the drug.

The problem is hard to solve because of the huge profits made by the dealers. Nevertheless, it does appear that the State must impose much harsher and serious penalties for these evil people.

It is obvious that prison sentences are not a deterrent, so what is the answer dare I say it?

However, I do feel the ultimate penalty should be re-introduced.

It will not happen, so I suppose more and more of our young will fall foul of ice and more people will be assaulted and robbed so that this most evil market can continue.
