It’s refreshing to see that this local government election has attracted a large number of candidates for Subiaco.
It is interesting to note that there is a greater number of younger candidates which is reflective of the changing demographics of Subiaco.
It’s very important that the needs of young families are represented in council decision making.
To see people like Jodi Mansfield who has been so active on the Subiaco P & C and the Subiaco Farmers’ Market nominate for Central ward is a plus for Subiaco.
We are entering an exciting period in the history of Subiaco and we need lots of energy and vibrancy which I am sure many of the new candidates will provide.
Traditionally, less than 40 per cent of the electorate vote, but given the level of interest in this election and the changing face of Subiaco I would encourage all voters to contribute to a much greater voting turn out.
