Every week we debate the topics that drive you nuts – this week we debate which show is better Friends or Seinfeld?
Ben Smith, Reporter
I have watched both Seinfeld and Friends, I like both of them, yada yada yada, but one is clearly the defining sitcom of the 90’s.
Seinfeld is second to only The Simpsons in terms of pure quotability.
It is far superior to friends in what actually matters in a sitcom: jokes.
Yes, the characters are awful people who never grow, but that is what makes them brilliant characters: they reflect humanity’s greatest flaws through a comedic prism.
Am I crazy? Or am I so sane that you just blew your mind?
Nadia Budihardjo, Cadet Reporter
I never thought I had to defend this beloved 90s sitcom but I guess no one told me life was gonna be this way.
Friends’ impact continues well after the decade it aired through real Central Perk cafes and that iconic haircut – The Rachel.
We’re viewers but we belong in this TV family because we see a bit of ourselves in them.
We sing along to ‘Smelly Cat’, wishes Monica’s apartment was ours and argue whether Ross and Rachel really were ‘on a break’.
Everyone loves a group of misfits and could this one BE any more lovable?
