Blackburne completes The Cove

Natalie HordovWestern Suburbs Weekly

BLACKBURNE’S The Cove development is complete with the first residents set to move in before Mother’s Day.

Director of sales and marketing Brad Kelly said it was the group’s most successful development, with over 80 per cent sold before completion.

The boutique 26-apartment project on the corner of McCabe and Tyrone streets, North Fremantle is also setting other trends.

“It contains the largest single-level apartments we have ever built,” Mr Kelly said.

“A minimum of two car bays are provided per apartment and the separate storage offered is between 9sqm and 11sqm, three times larger than the 3sq m minimum requirement.

“The Cove is built over five levels and we have used a variety of textures on the lower terrace rooftop, including stone, glass and gardens, to provide residents on the upper levels with a good outlook.

“And while it was launched in late 2015, at probably the worst time in the market, recent bank valuations indicate some apartments are worth more now than when they were purchased.”

Offering two, three and four-bedrooms residences with spacious living areas and generously sized balconies or courtyards, the project held strong appeal for downsizers.

Mr Kelly said there was an undersupply of quality apartments in the western suburbs that catered for this segment of the market and strong demand.

“If we could find another 10 development sites like this with amazing views, we could easily sell them,” he said.

“Buyers at The Cove are mainly owner-occupiers and very local, coming mainly from North Fremantle, Cottesloe and Mosman Park, with a few buyers from Bicton and East Fremantle.

“They are either downsizing, or have already downsized.”

The Cove’s design was inspired by the feedback from Blackburne’s Aria development.

“We had a number of buyers wanting to move into a house-sized apartment and who didn’t like the idea of being in a complex of 100 homes,” Mr Kelly said.

“And while the communal facilities at Aria are excellent, some people just wanted a spacious apartment, not pools, saunas and gyms and the strata fees this encompasses.

“We took the feedback and put it into this project – The Cove provides large, high quality apartments with river and ocean views, or both, close to amenity including the river, beach, Stirling Highway and public transport, and shops and restaurants.”

Only three apartments remain available and Mr Kelly expects these to sell quickly now that the project is complete.

The Cove will be open for viewing this Saturday and Sunday between 10-11am.
