NOW home to a glamorous residence, a character cottage once stood on this 716sq m block.

Today, a cubic facade with striking ‘red box’ catches the eye, but it was the location that first impressed the owners.

“We were attracted to south City Beach as it is quiet, close to the surf club and close to what we consider to be one of the best beaches in Perth,” they said.

“We also love Bold Park, and often enjoy hiking the Zamia trail.

“Since the boardwalk has been constructed we have also enjoyed long walks along the boardwalk to Floreat and sometimes to Scarborough.”

When they built the house in 2011, their vision was to create a home that was ideal for a growing family, with plenty of separate areas for entertaining.

The impressive two-storey home certainly achieves that goal.

The ground floor includes a study, bathroom and a huge living area with kitchen with walk-in pantry.

The owners said the home lent itself to open-plan entertaining – the bifold doors in the kitchen and living room open up to the alfresco area, complete with outdoor kitchen and fireplace, creating a streamlined indoor/outdoor zone.

The master suite is also on this floor and includes a his-and-hers walk-through robe and luxurious ensuite, which the owners said had the best view in the house.

“The freestanding bath overlooks the pool area,” they said.

“The windows have been privacy treated so that during the day you can see out, but nobody can see in.”

There are three more bedrooms upstairs (one is currently used as a fully equipped home theatre), along with another bathroom, study nook and large games room that opens to a balcony.

A separate studio provides extra room for guests, artistic pursuits or children to play.

The house is luxuriously appointed, with all the modern conveniences and creature comforts.

It has high ceilings, wide glass galleries, architectural lighting. underfloor heating, an outdoor shower , motorised blinds, security system – with fingerprint recognition and automatic gated entry, built-in audio system, ducted reverse-cycle airconditioning and landscaped gardens – including an in-ground trampline in the backyard.

The owners have caught the “building bug” and have a new project in the winds so a new family has the chance to enjoy all the delights of this magnificent home.
