“David’s experience and dedication make him a great asset to the association.”

Mr Gelavis thanked outgoing president Jason Kunkler for his enormous contribution as leader of the association and service to the board and construction council over many years.

Mr Crothers said he was honoured to be chosen as president of the association, which has led the WA building industry for 121 years.

“The members of the Master Builders board come from the residential arena, from commercial construction and other sectors and we are all volunteers who commit our time willingly to the industry to make it better,” he said.

“In the boardroom we may have a competitor sitting on the other side of the table but that’s all pushed aside because at Master Builders we come together with the common cause of helping the industry.”

Mr Crothers said he was attracted to this form of engagement because the industry needed support.

“We have been through several tough years,” he said.

“Recovery for the state economy and for our industry has been predicted but it will be some time before the building sector really fires up again.

“Master Builders offers members support and services to keep their businesses on track.”
