CONSTRUCTION has commenced at Blackburne’s 143-apartment Essence development in Claremont following a groundbreaking ceremony last month.
On the corner of Davies and Shenton roads and within LandCorp’s Claremont on the Park redevelopment, the project will provide high-end apartment living close to the Claremont Quarter shopping precinct, sporting facilities, parkland, Claremont train station and some of Perth’s finest schools.
Planning Minister Rita Saffioti attended the groundbreaking and said the development was set to provide an enviable combination of luxury living and a truly connected lifestyle.
“Essence is a really exciting development for the entire area,” she said.
“What we’ve seen around here, and in particular with this new project, is really catering for future living in relation to older people who want to age in place and younger people who want to live close to where they grew up.
“This is exactly the type of development we believe is the future of Perth and its suburbs, giving people more choices of how and where to live in the future.”
LandCorp chief executive Frank Marra said the vision for Claremont on the Park was to create a modern mix of housing styles in close proximity to a transport node, being Claremont train station, and all the amenities Claremont had to offer.
“It’s pleasing to see how Blackburne has embraced the idea of intergenerational living and bringing new ideas and concepts to the project,” he said.
Blackburne managing director Paul Blackburne said buyers were continuing to seek high-quality, designer apartment living in a unique and desirable location.
“Since the completion of Aria, there has been a resurgence of interest in high-end apartment living in the western suburbs, as people have been able to see first-hand the unparalleled lifestyle on offer,” he said.
“Currently in Perth 15 per cent of people live in apartments, and this is expected to grow to 30 per cent over the next 15 years.
“Demand is only going to continue to rise for well-designed, affordable apartments in desirable locations like Claremont.”
Mr Blackburne said Essence was Perth’s fastest selling development and only 20 per cent of the 143 apartments were still available.
One-bedroom homes have sold out and the remaining two and three-bedroom apartments are priced from $599,000.
