Natalie HordovWestern Suburbs Weekly

VIVIEN Yap has forged a phenomenal career since selling her pharmacies and joining the real estate industry in 2012.

She has won multiple awards and gone from a salesperson to business owner, but she said it had not been easy.

“Without a doubt I have faced challenges in what is a male-dominated industry, not to mention being a newcomer on an unfamiliar career path,” Mrs Yap said.

“The tough times drive me to create change, for not only my progression but others who are taking a similar leap of faith.”

Juggling motherhood and work was a constant balancing act.

“I’m fortunate to have a supportive husband and understanding children who keep me positive,” she said.

“It is because of them that I can achieve in real estate.”

Mrs Yap said real estate was a career that suited ambitious and hard-working women.

“You can work your schedule around your family life and still achieve great success,” she said.

She said success was all about mindset: “shift your mindset and you will achieve your dreams”.

“I have had so many downs, many more downs than ups, but it’s vitally important to snap out of the negative mindset and remain fearless in the face of failure,” Mrs Yap said.

“In the early days I had so many sleepless nights, but I focused on staying strong and determined.

“I want to inspire as many young women, mothers and newcomers to real estate. If I can achieve, I promise they can too.”

Her biggest tip for women joining the industry: “Outwork everyone, but work smart, and be solution-focused for your clients”.
