THE owners of this home have travelled the world and brought international influences to their special part of WA when they built it in 2016.
There are Turkish marble tiles, New England blackbutt timber flooring, Venetian lime plaster wall finishes and imported double-glazed windows and doors.
“It is the first completely new home we have ever lived in and that it is one we have created ourselves makes it even more special,” they said.
They wanted a light-filled, modern home with a courtyard and the use of different textures throughout the residence was also important.
A special moment was when the owner’s mother visited from overseas and saw the property for the first time “in the flesh” after having to picture it via descriptions over the phone.
A central courtyard is the focus of the home, with a living area and the kitchen/dining area both opening to this delightful space.
It is an ideal area for entertaining or simply enjoying the peace and quiet.
The owner said this ground floor area was their favourite place in the house.
“When the bi-fold doors are both open, one enjoys the flow through the living areas and courtyard,” they said.
“And at dusk and evening we experience reflections and soft internal lighting penetrating the large areas of courtyard glazing.”
A beautiful floating staircase leads to the first floor where the three bedrooms all have their own ensuite, built-in or walk-in robes and ceiling fans.
A living area with timber flooring overlooks the courtyard.
The home is on a 231sq m block and the owners have enjoyed the location, including the village vibe of West Leederville, the proximity to Lake Monger, Leederville and easy access to public transport and freeways, plus local cafes, shops and schools.
“One of our children is working and the other in a student at uni,” they said.
“Now that they are older they appreciate the easy access to everything Perth has to offer.”
