BHAJAN Singh bought this two-storey home in 2014 after seeing it on the internet while on a year’s sabbatical in Toronto, Canada.
“I loved the classic beauty of the home, the generous size of all rooms but especially the bedrooms, the proximity to the beach, that it was in a cul-de-sac, backed on to a park and was close to great schools for my children,” he said.
The house was built in 2005 by Beaumont Homes and Mr Singh said it was beautifully done, with a very functional layout, and still felt like a new home.
The spacious residence’s ground floor has an abundance of living space.
The layout opens to a huge tiled family/dining/kitchen area and games room.
Both the games room and family zone opens to the alfresco area with timber-lined ceiling, ceiling fan, speakers and cafe blinds, where you can entertain in comfort year-round.
Mr Singh said he loved many places in the home.
“I love my large spacious study and watching sport and family movies in the theatre room,” he said.
“However, my favourite place in the house is the alfresco area because it is central to the lounge, kitchen and games rooms, and opens into the lovely tropical garden created by my wife Alison.
“We have had so many memorable celebrations there; even on the wildest wintry day it remains a protected sanctuary.”
The house is ideal for people who like to entertain and those who have guests regularly come to stay.
Mr Singh said his favourite memories were the family’s Christmas celebrations.
“My extended family come from overseas to stay,” he said.
“The house accommodates all 13 of us comfortably and has so many separate but connected entertainment areas so that we can feel together but can still get away for some private time.”
The five bedrooms are upstairs with another living space, with kitchenette, that opens to a balcony where you can enjoy some stunning sunsets.
The master has a curved window to take in the ocean views to Rottnest, walk-in robe and open-plan ensuite with bath, shower and double vanity unit.
The four remaining bedrooms have built-in robes and the main bathroom has a bath, shower and separate toilet.
A third bathroom is on the ground floor.
Other features of the home include ample storage, security system, video intercom, ducted vacuum system and built-in Sonos speakers throughout.
The 760sq m block also includes a solar-heated, salt-water pool with mosaic water feature and a gate to Yaltara Park.
It is in an elevated position in a quiet cul-de-sac in walking distance of the beach and close to more parks, shops and schools.
“I love being able to take our poodle Coco for walks on the beach or through the local parks,” Mr Singh said.
“I also love playing basketball, soccer and baseball with the kids in the park at the rear of the house.”
The family have decided to downsize.
