MAXIMISING the views and light was part of the inspiration behind the design of this attractive two-storey home built in 2008 by Humphrey Homes.
As a result, the open-plan living area is on the first floor and looks out to pretty Maclagan Park.
The room opens to a balcony that offers views across the treetops.
The owner enjoys sitting there on a warm, still day and said you can hardly see another house, giving a feeling of seclusion.
“The elevation and beautiful views make you feel like you are in the countryside,” he said.
The other intention behind the design was to offer separation between children and parents.
The generously sized master suite is also on the first floor. It includes a large walk-in robe, luxurious ensuite with bath and also opens to the balcony.
The children’s bedrooms, with built-in or walk-in robes, are on the ground floor with a bathroom, separate toilet and lounge room.
Two bedrooms and the lounge open to a courtyard beside the heated pool.
With travertine tiling and brushbox timber flooring, white walls and red cedar features, the home has a feeling of warmth and lends itself to good times with friends and family.
“It is a comfortable house to accommodate large groups,” the owner said.
“Family events are usually held here; we have had 21sts, engagements, birthdays and more, with numbers up to 150 and it works.”
“Open up the bi-fold doors upstairs and down, light up the pool and you are away.”
With their children having left home, the owners have decided to sell and will leave behind many happy memories of the home and neighbourhood.
“It is a great family house to live in and a wonderful quiet area,” the owner said. “It is surrounded by recreational spaces and close to public transport, shops, cafes, restaurants and the beach.”
