OWNER David Kelly said when he built this two-storey home three years ago he wanted something that was perfect for entertaining while still being private.
“Being a narrow-lot home it was really important to me that it did not feel like a corridor,” he said.
“I think for the width of the block the home has a real feeling of space.”
Architect John Lewis brought his dream to reality, creating a sleek, elegant sanctuary with plenty of natural light.
The design is versatile and selling agent Grant Retallick said it could be the perfect downsizer, professional pad or family home, as well as the ideal lock-up-and-leave.
The ground floor has a spacious open-plan living/dining/kitchen area with timber flooring and soaring ceilings.
Mr Kelly said having a coffee while sitting there listening to water flow down the water feature into the pond was a very relaxing way to start the day.
The living area opens to an alfresco area with built-in barbecue kitchen.
The clever use of space on the 271sq m block even allows for a saltwater pool, creating a great place to entertain casually or more formally, or just enjoy some downtime.
Mr Kelly said there had been many balmy summer nights spent with friends in and around the pool.
“It’s the perfect way to spend an evening,” he said.
“The house has also been great for events with staff and customers from time to time.”
Upstairs, there is another living space with a wonderful view.
“I like looking down across the void, which gives you an amazing view across the dining room, lounge and out to the swimming pool,” Mr Kelly said.
The master bedroom, with walk-in robe and chic ensuite, is also on this floor and overlooks the pool.
There are two more bedrooms, the main bathroom and a study on this level, while a ground-floor bedroom with semi-ensuite access to a bathroom is ideal for guests.
Mr Kelly has enjoyed living in the community and the location with its connectivity to two train lines and proximity to the CBD and the beach.
“The area is perfect for a quick trip to work, whether by walking, riding or public transport,” he said.
