WHILE it has been the perfect place to raise their teenage children, the owners said this elegant, four-storey home was also ideal to lock up and leave.
They are long-time Peppermint Grove residents and bought it six years ago, wanting to stay in the area while having a home to suit their lifestyle and family.
“Our children were 23, 20 and 16 at the time of purchase,” they said.
“We liked that it had separate areas for all members of the family to sleep, play and study, a private secure entertaining area, small, easy-care garden area and great location.
“Also, as we travel extensively the house has enabled us to leave the children, knowing they were in an extremely secure property with fantastic neighbours and all amenities close by – it is walking distance to school and easy transport to tertiary institutions.”
The owners carried out extensive renovations after purchasing the home.
They said they wanted to increase the French/Hamptons feel, highlight the beautiful architectural features and give it the level of finish Peppermint Grove is known for.
Luxury features abound on all four levels and include high coffered ceilings, stained French Oak floorboards, custom-made plantation shutters, designer wallpapers and light fittings, and a heritage-inspired gas fireplace the main living area.
The lowest level has a media room, wine cellar with curved ceiling, kitchenette and tasting bar, and lift to the other levels.
The owners said this was a great feature when older relatives came to stay.
The ground floor is home to the open-plan living/dining and kitchen area and opens to the front garden and the alfresco area.
The next level includes two bedrooms, the main bathroom and a wonderful master suite that occupies half of this floor.
With a large bedroom space, sitting area, walk-through robe, large ensuite with floor-to-ceiling marble tiling, double vanity unit and spa, and french doors opening to juliet balconies, it is a lovely retreat for parents.
The owners said the space, luxury and elevation made this room a perfect place to unwind an relax.
On the top floor, the loft with two rooms and a bathroom offers several options.
The rooms could be extra bedrooms, a studio or living spaces.
The windows have extensive views over Peppermint Grove and Cottesloe, and the owners said they were great for enjoying summer sunsets and breezes.
Additional features include ample storage on all levels, double glazing and security.
The home is on a 201sq m block in walking distance of schools, cafes, shops, the river and a short drive from Cottesloe Beach, the CBD and other private schools.
“Peppermint Grove is the smallest municipality in Australia and we have felt very privileged to live here,” the owners said.
“It is a small, friendly community – the council holds an annual breakfast for residents – and at Halloween it is a pleasure seeing all the local children being able to safely wander the tree-lined streets, as well as the highly decorated houses.”
With only one child remaining at home, and about to travel for studies, the owners intend to move and develop a small farm holding to keep themselves busy.
