THE owners of this magnificent two-storey home took the time to find the right site to bring their vision to life.
“We waited a number of years to find a site on Hobbs Avenue with the northern aspect we sought,” they said.
“We valued the beautiful location as well as the rear lane that afforded us the ability to incorporate a four-car garage into the design.”
Their goal was to create a sophisticated and timeless home with a design that focused on effortless family living.
“It was really important to us to take advantage of the wonderful northern aspect the property enjoys and we really wanted to create beautiful light-filled spaces and a seamless flow between the various living zones,” the owners said.
The home was built by Springate Homes and a look around will show you no expense was spared in the process with features such as Spanish clay brickwork, bespoke glass and timber veneer doors, American oak and glass floating staircase, built-in televisions, Bose sound system and designer pendant lighting.
The home’s main living area includes a striking two-way Real Flame stone fireplace.
The room overlooks the pool and opens to the alfresco area with cedar-lined ceiling, outdoor kitchen and barbecue.
The owners said this zone was bathed in northern light and protected from the wind and was perfect for entertaining and relaxing.
“The home is wonderful for entertaining, and hosting Christmas with extended family and enjoying the beautiful pool and outdoor area was most memorable,” they said.
Supporting the owners’ desire for effortless family living, the home also has a superbly equipped kitchen and scullery, theatre room with 130-inch screen, large home office and a rumpus room in the upstairs children’s wing complete with built-in bunk beds for sleepovers.
“As a family with two teenage children, the design of the home works tremendously well,” the owners said.
“The kids love the dedicated rumpus room that is perfect for catching up with their friends an we all love the multi-purpose theatre.”
The home has plenty of bedrooms and bathrooms too.
There is a master with dressing room and luxe ensuite with freestanding bath, plus a guest room with walk-in robe and ensuite.
Another bedroom has a built-in robe and ensuite, and there are two bedrooms with built-in robes and a fourth bathroom.
The location is as desirable as the home.
“The home is towards the end of Hobbs Avenue, where it is leafy and tranquil,” the owners said.
“It is moments from the river, reserves, parks, golf club, tennis clubs, schools etcetera that Dalkeith is known for.
“We particularly love the feeling when you drive into the immediate area surrounding the home when you are greeted by river views or leafy parks.”
