WHEN looking at this home’s grand exterior and lush grounds with tall trees and manicured hedges you almost feel like you are standing outside an English manor.
That is no coincidence, it was built in 1998 and the original owners apparently set out to recreate a home they lived in in Surrey, England, with the same proportions.
The current owners purchased it in 2003, liking the proximity to schools, uni, the river, city and other amenities along with the home’s simple design, orientation and those elegant proportions.
“It is light-filled and lovely to live in year round,” they said.
The home’s ground floor includes a spacious entry with chandelier, formal lounge room with fireplace and extra-wide blackbutt floorboards, formal dining room and family/meals area and kitchen with granite benchtops and timber cabinetry.
French doors open the living spaces to the well-kept garden and pool with water feature.
“We love sitting on the back veranda all year round, for a coffee or sunset drinks with friends and family,” the owners said.
“We have also hosted many family occasions and many celebrations from 20-100 people, the home can easily accommodate large numbers.”
A curved staircase leads upstairs where there are three bedrooms, a TV room/fourth bedroom, two bathrooms and a charming sitting area.
The owners particularly like the master bedroom with a walk-in robe, ensuite and lovely views.
“It has a light and leafy outlook and river breezes,” they said.
“It’s a beautiful place to sit and read.
“All the upstairs rooms have great views over the suburb, treetops and tennis courts to the river.
“It’s amazing and everyone who has stayed here loves it.”
The 951sq m property also offers another living option, with a separate apartment on the ground floor.
“The original owners built the home for their son and built the ‘bungalow’ as they called it for themselves,” the owners said.
With its own entry, living space, kitchen/meals area, bathroom and bedroom it is ideal for older relatives or guests and has great garden views.
Other bonuses include plenty of storage throughout the residence, an undercroft wine cellar and parking for up to six cars.
The owners have enjoyed the home’s location, 100m from ‘White Beach’ – the “best part of the river”.
“There are many lovely walks around the area and we also love the village atmosphere and convenience of the location – close to schools, sport, uni and work,” they said.
“The corner block also gives us an open aspect while being private.”
The home was the perfect place to raise their three children from teenagers to adults, and now they have moved out the owners are downsizing.
“It couldn’t have been better,” they said.
“We are very sad to be leaving, but the house is ready to be a home to another family.”
