IT is rare for a rural property to be called funky, but that is an apt description for this 20.22ha property with its trendy ‘tin shack’ home.
The owners bought the property liking its proximity to all the major South-West towns including Busselton, Dunsborough, Yallingup, Coworamup and Margaret River and all their attractions.
They built the unique home in 2007.
“My wife is an interior designer and doesn’t like brick homes, hence the steel-framed and zincalume construction,” the owner said.
It has an open-plan layout with high ceilings.
The kitchen is modern and includes a breakfast bar and quality stainless steel appliances.
The living area opens to a large wraparound deck with built-in bar and sheltered seating area.
There is one bedroom and a striking bathroom with a freestanding bath and double vanity unit.
Whether you are inside or out, on the deck on in the bathroom, there are incredible views to be enjoyed.
That was the owners’ intention when they built the house.
It was built on the creekline and they raised the pad about 1.2m above ground level to give views over the entire property.
“There are great views from all sides of the house, every outlook is different,” said the owner.
“My favourite place is the deck, sitting there having a coffee while looking at the water running past.”
The property is more than just a gorgeous rural retreat.
It includes a 180sq m machinery shed with office, five holding paddocks and a three-bay stable, including hay room, tack room and kitchen.
There is also a dressage arena and fully fenced chicken pen and hut.
The property has an ample water supply, including a soak-filled dam and four rainwater catchment tanks.
It is an ideal place for horses, sheep or cattle.
“From a stock grazing point of view the soils are very rich and every time we have marketed stock, mainly cattle, we have topped the market,” the owner said.
As well as raising stock, the property offers other income earning opportunities; for example, the stables and machinery shed could be leased.
The owners have enjoyed developing this piece of rural paradise from a bare canvass to what it is today.
“It just kept evolving,” they said.
“We had a lot of fun coming up with new ideas.”
They have also enjoyed the peace and quiet of the location, however they have decided it is time to retire and downsize.
