THE owners bought this property looking for a home with a covered carport or garage, a luxury their previous residence did not have.

Cars have also prompted the sale of this home.

The owners bought it in 1996 as a newly engaged couple, married later that year and raised three children.

The kids have grown and once again they are in search of a garage, this time to house the children’s cars, but intend to stay in the same 6011 beachside which has provided a wonderful contrast over the years to the husband’s work in the North-West.

Built in the Californian bungalow style in the 1930s, the home was extended in the 1980s, with a landscaping project in the mid-1990s and upgrades to the kitchen and bathrooms in 2015.

The owners said it had provided a fantastic backdrop for raising a family with rooms repurposed along the journey and the original design of the separate living areas allowing for adequate separation between parents and teenagers over time.

Not only was it a lovely family home, they said it had a beautiful, relaxed mood and was a private enclave, sitting below street level among gorgeous gardens on an 814sq m block.

“Every room virtually has a view or vista of the garden or neighbouring garden,” the owners said.

“In spring and throughout summer, the flowering wisteria vine cascades over the rear porch and provides a secluded oasis for outdoor reading while views from both living rooms capture the Manchurian Pear trees in their full glory through late spring/summer.

“The wisteria provides a wonderful nesting place for small wrens and pigeons alike.

“The formal living room is a haven both in winter and summer as it is surrounded by wraparound verandas to the west and north and enveloped in greenery from the lush garden.

“Bird activity is abundant and in summer and the street is bustling with the activity of beachgoers which you can observe from the comfort of the sofa through open french doors if you please.”

The lovely four bedroom, two-bathroom home has two living rooms, a separate open-plan dining/kitchen zone, alfresco area, salt-water pool, secure garage with parking for two cars and a storeroom.

Other features include Miele kitchen appliances and an integrated fridge/freezer, built-in barbecue, zoned reverse-cycle airconditioning, security system, and an outdoor shower.
