AT first glance this home is a lovely, renovated, character cottage, but dig a little deeper and you will find the house has been a wonderful home for the owners and their four children.
It has been a place to share time with family and friends and an ideal location to celebrate special events.
“Our favourite memories are celebrating our special family occasions in many different ways, but always at home utilising our alfresco veranda and kitchen,” the owners said.
“For example with live bands and a dance floor, petting zoos for the children, slip-and-slide and bouncy castle children’s parties, and many casual and formal dinner parties.
“Many lazy weekends have been spent cooking and entertaining from the kitchen and spilling out onto the rear veranda with friends and family any time of year.”
The owners bought the home on a 524sq m block 10 years ago.
“The first attraction was the proximity to the river and beach,” they said.
“It also had a generously sized block with a good house-to-land ratio, lovely wide street frontage, great potential for renovation, and is close to St Hildas.”
They gave the home an extensive renovation in 2014, which included a new kitchen with a large work bench and stainless steel appliances, two new bathrooms, restored jarrah flooring and internal painting.
There are three bedrooms towards the front of the home.
The master includes a study/nursery that opens to the front veranda, built-in robe and ensuite.
The open-plan family/meal/kitchen area, second bathroom and laundry at are the back of the home.
The meals area opens to the alfresco area and backyard.
The home’s exterior has also had an extensive makeover with a new cast iron and limestone front fence, nature strip lawn restoration, exposed aggregate concrete driveway and cross-over, carport, Colorbond rear and side boundary fencing, restumping and replacement of old weatherboards, painting of exterior, levelling of block and retaining; rear lawn and garden beds, front veranda; rear veranda with ziplock blinds, fig, orange, lemon mandarin and mango trees, and a gorgeous Tudor-style cubby house for the kids.
The owners enjoy renovating and are moving on to another project.
