THE owners were living in Sydney when they bought this apartment in 2015.

“We were continually flying to Perth for family reasons and needed a Perth residence,” they said.

The spectacular waterfront location appealed as did the proximity to restaurants and shops and the modern complex.

“The complex felt like a resort with the infinity pool and gardens beside the site of the historic house that was Steve’s Hotel,” the owners said.

“A good professional gym and pool was important and given that we travel a lot, the security was really important in terms of secure access, parking and storage room, and the onside building manager.”

The three-bedroom, two-bathroom apartment is on the third floor and has stunning views over the Swan River and parklands.

An open-plan living/dining/kitchen area opens to a sheltered loggia, ideal for year-round alfresco entertaining.

The spacious kitchen will also appeal to those who like to entertain, with plenty of storage, marble-clad island bench, integrated appliances, and three ovens, including a steam oven.

All the rooms in the apartment have floor-to-ceiling glass doors and windows to make the most of the available views.

“The rooms all have views, but the living/dining/kitchen area looks directly at a 180-degree sweep of the river and parklands,” the owners said.

“The sunrises over the river are glorious and the sunsets bathe the sky and river in pinks and gold.

“We installed floor-to-ceiling mirrors at the back of the living/dining area to reflect the views, so no matter where you are in that room, you are surrounded by spectacular park and water views.”

While it was bought as second residence, the owners loved the apartment and location so much, they sold their Sydney home and moved there permanently, renovating it in 2015.

“While the apartment was everything we were looking for, we wanted to increase the functionality and emphasize the feeling of luxury while still ensuring it was relaxed and welcoming,” they said.

They installed blackbutt timber floors through the entire home, upgraded the lighting to LED lights with dimmer switches and brushed aluminium switch plates, added remote-controlled blinds in the kitchen and living room, built a floor-to-ceiling closet in the hall – an ideal place to store suitcases, and added outdoor carpet to the loggia in the same colour and pattern as the indoor floorboards to ensure a seamless flow between the areas.

The owners have loved living by the river.

“We’d lived right on Sydney Harbour with views of the Harbour Bridge, and in New York looking on Central Park, and we’ve been amazed to find we are truly enjoying living by the Swan River much more than all those other great locations,” they said.

“There is such tranquillity and harmony and we feel a part of nature surrounded by water and trees and birds.

“The only reason we are moving is that we have so many friends and family from interstate and overseas who will now be staying with us that we need more room.”
