REIWA offers support to Salvation Army Perth Women’s Refuge

REIWA chief executive Neville Pozzi said he was delighted the institute and its staff could give back to the community through its 8th annual Women’s Refuge Mother’s Day Appeal, which invited REIWA staff to donate personal items, such as toiletries and pyjamas, for the women at the refuge.

“Our staff members are a generous bunch and I’m pleased to see everyone dig deep and help make a difference to the women at the refuge,” he said.

“These small items, which many of us take for granted, can make the world of difference to the comfort of these women and I’m really proud we can do our bit to help them.”

Last week REIWA hosted a morning tea, where staff were given an insight into the Women’s Refuge and how it assists women in need of assistance due to domestic violence and/or homelessness by guest speaker Salvation Army Captain Naava Brooks.

The donations were presented to Captain Brooks and will be given to the women at the refuge on Mother’s Day.

“These gifts are so much more than just everyday home comforts; to the women in our centre they will mean the world because someone cared enough to make their Mother’s Day a special day to remember,” she said.

“That’s a powerful message for our women and we are greatly appreciative of the support REIWA staff have given.”

The appeal is part of REIWA’s broader Community REInvest philanthropic program. n
