STATING that they are looking for “adventure before dementia”, Terry and Fiona Clarke are selling their renovated Federation home and moving to New Zealand for a lifestyle change.

They bought the house in late 2007, recognising that it had “good bones but was crying out for some TLC”.

Working with Like Fischer of Future Design Builders, they carried out an extensive renovation.

The original Federation section of the home was carefully and sympathetically restored, a major extension added a modern, open-plan living area, and the outdoor areas were designed to create a sense of sanctuary and seclusion.

The home is full of character and charming surprises.

The four elegant bedrooms are at the front of the home – the master has a hidden door that leads to an impressive walk-in robe and lavish ensuite.

Another bedroom has a Murphy Wall Bed allowing you to tuck the bed away and use the room as a sitting room.

The open-plan living area is a light-filled delight with a sleek, sophisticated kitchen overlooking the heated, salt-water pool.

The home is suited to entertaining, and the living area opens to an alfresco area with a built-in kitchen.

“We love our summer parties, all of the doors are opened up and our friends can enjoy this great entertaining space,” Mr and Mrs Clarke said.

“In winter we also occasionally head outside to our cosy fire pit for mulled wine with good company.”

The 524sq m block also includes a separate studio and mini orchard with lemons, oranges, figs, avocados, feijoa olives in the front courtyard.

The location is very appealing, close to the city, beach, shops, schools and transport links.

“We love living in this area as we can walk to several top restaurants, great coffee shops and everything needed for everyday living,” Mr and Mrs Clarke said.

“Lake Jualbup, a great location for family picnics and often has organised music events in the summer, is just 100m away, and King’s Park is at the top of the road and a 10-minute walk.

“We’ll be sad to leave this beautiful home, but it’s comforting to know that all of our hard work will soon be enjoyed by a new family.”
