THE top 50 women in Australian real estate were announced last month at the 2019 REB Women in Real Estate awards.

WA’s Vivien Yap placed among the top 5 and was the state’s only representative.

The Ray White Dalkeith-Claremont director maintained her 2018 position, ranking fourth with 63 properties sold for a total value of $145,650,000.

NSW Ray While Balwyn director Helen Yan took out top spot with 83 properties sold for a combined value over $194 million.

REB editor Tim Neary said the awards provided a platform for women in the industry to showcase their talents and be role models for others.

“It is a great way to recognise the industry’s high-performing female agents, property managers, BDMs and businesses,” he said.

Rankings are based on several criteria including number of properties sold, total dollar volume of properties sold and average sale value.

This year’s statistics reflected the overall market downturn across the country.

The total dollar value of sales for the top 50 women fell to $4.89 billion from $5.47 billion in 2018 and $5.01 billion in 2017, but higher than $4.48 billion in 2016.

For the top 10, it fell marginally to $1.63 billion this year, from $1.69 billion last year, but up from $1.55 billion in 2017 and $1.42 billion in 2016.

The total number of sales for the whole group fell to 3514, from 3991 in 2018, but higher than 3391 in 2017 and 3450 in 2016.

However, for the top 10 performers, total sales set a new high-water mark in 2019 at 983 after it reached 829 last year, 759 in 2017 and 773 in 2016.

The data also showed the profile of a top 10 woman agent changed from a year ago

This year, the top 10 agents had 16.5 years experience and two support staff, down from 17 years experience and up from 1.8 support staff members in 2018.

Mrs Yap has eight years experience and three support staff.
