Zorzi Builders share the latest trends in luxury South-West homes

AWARD-WINNING Zorzi Builders have been building homes in the South-West since 2000.

Design project manager James Zorzi said many clients wanted a homely feel but were very conscious of maintenance.

“They don’t want what they have in Perth and don’t want a home they will be forever cleaning and maintaining,” he said.

“They want simple, open-plan, high ceilings, lots of breezeways in the architecture, the ability to open the home up to the elements as easily as they can shut it down for the winter or when they head back to Perth.

“They also want to address overall energy management locally and remotely online as well as water management, water harvesting, underfloor heating and other forms of thermodynamics to create the best and most efficient home.”

When it came to specific features, Mr Zorzi said polished or burnished concrete floors were popular, as was the use of off-form concrete for walls and features.

“Extensive security systems that enable the owner to dial in from anywhere in the world and monitor as well as communicate with gardeners, cleaners, etc. are also in demand,” he said.

“At the higher end of the market we are looking at unique, dream home inclusions such as golf simulators projected on a glass wall with the ocean as a backdrop, a two-lane ten-pin bowling alley, and a full billiards rooms with a ‘game fishing wet bar’ that was created using the back end of a sports fishing boat the family owned.

“The list is endless, and our imagination is our only limitation.”
