Boomers lead too great to run down

The crowd saw a great display of basketball during the first quarter with both teams taking the lead at various stages.

Toni Edmonson kept the Waves in the game with some aggressive play, which continued into the second quarter.

It wasn’t until a few minutes before half time that Melbourne went on a run and built a 16 point lead.

At half time, we used the break to recover from the intensive heat of the stadium, and to regroup and address areas we were struggling.

We changed up our defensive strategy, but the third quarter was not an improvement and we only scored four points compared to Melbourne’s 20.

The game was won at this point and although we fought until the end, we could not come back.

We have one more game before the Christmas break, and while many of the girls are in great need of a rest both physically and mentally, we know that this game is extremely important.

If we can end 2013 positively, we can use this energy to work hard over the break and come back feeling fresh for the remainder of the season.
