RATEPAYERS will pay half of a $96,000 renovation at the below-par facilities at Seaview Golf Club in Cottesloe.
“The request for funds will benefit the club, and attracts functions and new members, so I have no problem at spending on an asset which may eventually come back the council,” Cottesloe Mayor Jo Dawkins said at last month’s meeting.
The club’s lease with the council expires in 2026, when $270,314 in a self-supporting loan it has from the town will also be due for repayment.

Heating would also be installed in the clubroom overlooking the fairways, and create barbecue and children’s playground areas.
Councillor Sandra Boulter failed in her bid to have staff report on 1800sq m of the course used for a replacement vehicle and works depot.
Chief executive Matt Humfrey said a depot of that size would cover the club’s current carpark and shed area, and much of the equipment was likely to be relocated to the Mosman Park Council’s depot on McCabe Street, but talks were continuing.
Residents and previous councillors rejected the course as a new site for the depot when a sale of the former Nailsworth Street site for the trucks and lawnmowers was considered several years ago.
