A staff reporterWestern Suburbs Weekly

WEMBLEY Districts Cricket Club’s female volunteers were recognised as the best in the State after taking out two categories at the WA Cricket Association’s 2016-17 Volunteer of the Year Awards at the WACA Ground recently.

Club member Margie Oldfield won female volunteer of the year award, and the young volunteer of the Year was Wembley’s Bryanna Paterson from the junior cricket club.

Ms Oldfield’s award recognised her achievements at her club’s junior girls’ programs.

Other volunteers from Toodyay, Bakers Hill and Secret Harbour clubs were awarded for coaching, scoring and umpiring, or the regular functions of a club including managing canteens, finances and local leadership.
