FIVE West Coast Fever players have been named in the 18-player Australian Diamonds squad ahead of the World Cup in Sydney.
Captain Ashleigh Brazill and vice captain Caitlin Bassett along with Natalie Medhurst, April Letton and Khao Watts were announced in the squad this morning.
Ten of the 18 players are from top two Championship teams Fever and the Queensland Firebirds that remain unbeaten this season.
Diamonds coach Lisa Alexander said the strong squad gave selectors the best chance of choosing a winning World Cup team.
Along with ANZ Championship performances, the panel has considered the Diamonds International High Performance requirements, Netball World Cup opponents and past international performances into squad selections, Alexander said.
Fevers Shae Brown is among five players invited to join the Diamonds three-day camp at Netball Australias Centre of Excellence in Canberra from May 5-7.
Fever coach said the teams training environment was challenging the players to be elite in their performances and behaviours at every step.
The 12-player Diamonds team for the World Cup from August 7-16 will be named at the end of the Championship season.
