Diving: WA team scores Club of the Year award in Australian nationals

THE team from Western Australia has shown the rest of the country that west is best after picking up the Club of the Year award for the second year running at the 2017 Australian Diving Age Championships in Adelaide.

The team finished the week with 14 gold, five silver and four bronze medals, along with 16 personal best performances.

West Leederville’s Sam Tulk took out Diver of the Year in the boys 14-15 years division, as did Tianna Furness (girls 16-18 years) and Kathleen Sullivan (women 19 and above).

Ben Ward (men 19 and above) and Eloise Miller (girls 12-13 years) were not far behind in their age groups, finishing second and third.

Mike Tinley, Eliza Cole and Mercedes Carnevali coached the athletes throughout the year, and Jo Furness took on the role of team manager for the trip.

The team will have a short break before returning to the pool.
