‘If someone’s busy and they need some help, I’ll help,’ Stokes said.

He spent four hours mowing fairways last Monday.

Doug, the former co-owner of Stokes and Rank Automotive on Hay Street, Subiaco, took up golf at the club after an invitation from friends in 1982.

He was club president in 1989-90, captain 1993-95, gained life membership in 1999 and currently plays with a 36 handicap after reaching 18 strokes.
