ROGER Federer and Belinda Bencic beat Alexander Zverev and Angelique Kerber in a live mixed doubles to claim Switzerland’s third Hopman Cup title.

Federer last won the Hopman Cup in 2001 when he partnered Martina Hingis.

“After all these years I can’t believe I’m here again,” he said.

“It’s absolutely amazing. I’ve lost count of the years, I’m thrilled to win the Hopman Cup again with Belinda, it’s been a pleasure to partner you this week, well done.”

Federer got Switzerland off to a winning start beating Zverev in three sets but it wasn’t easy for the world number 2 who dropped his first set of the tournament.

The German’s momentum dropped in the next two sets with Zverev even receiving a code violation from the chair umpire for throwing his racquet after losing a game to be down 0-3.

Federer won the next two sets 6-0 6-2.

The contest was levelled by Kerber who beat Bencic 6-4 6-1 but the Swiss triumphed 4-3 4-2 in the mixed doubles.
