The Tigers beat Peel Thunder 15.12 (102) to 11.8 (74) in its second win for the season.

The club moved from Claremont Oval to the showground this season to make way for a $16.5 million redevelopment that will include new clubrooms, commercial space and car parking.

Demolition of the clubrooms at Claremont Oval is imminent.

Claremont chief executive Todd Shimmon said 1400 people turned out for the first game at the new ground and despite some teething problems, it was a successful day.

Claremont played several games at the showground in the 1920s and formed a partnership with the Royal Agricultural Society (RAS) to call the site home for the 2014 and 2015 seasons.

RAS chief executive Martin Molony said the society was happy to help its neighbour of more than 100 years.

Mr Molony said the partnership showed the opportunities and flexibility that the showground offered to the community.
