HALE Hockey Club is preparing for its first Hockey WA Women’s Premier League grand final appearance.

The Doubleview-based club started its women’s teams in 1991 and is set to make history following the team’s 4-1 win over Suburban Lions on Sunday.

The team, which includes Hockeyroos game record holder and coach Madonna Blyth, current Hockeyroos Emily Chalker, Mariah Williams and Sophie Taylor, and Perth Thundersticks players Lin Malan and Ciara Faichney, will face Westside Wolves in the grand final at Perth Hockey Stadium on Saturday.

It will be a double header for the club, with Hale playing Wesley South Perth in the Men’s Premier League grand final following the women’s match.

It is the third grand final appearance for the men’s team following a 2007 loss and 2010 win.

The women’s match starts at 4pm followed by the men’s grand final at 5.45pm.
