PERTH ultimate frisbee team Kaos is hoping to improve on its silver medal at the 2014 championships when they compete at the annual Australian Ultimate Championships this long weekend.

Kaos is among three local women's teams that will compete against Australian and New Zealand teams from April 24-27 at UWA Sports Park, Mt Claremont.

Silver medallist and Claremont resident Geri Daube said the team was hoping to put on a solid performance but would be challenged by a couple of NSW and Victorian teams.

"We'll definitely have the home-ground advantage because we play on those fields every week," Daube said.

The 29-year-old has played in four nationals since taking up the sport five years ago.

There will be 12 women's and 13 men's teams competing over the weekend.

The City of Perth is celebrating the event by hosting a free Ultimate Film Festival in the Northbridge Piazza this Thursday from 6.30pm.
