‘It’s a downwinder, so we’ll be catching little wind swells 1km offshore,’ Fry said.
The Swanbourne mother-and son combination will pair as part of the event, allowing novice competitors to have experienced companions during the race on the large, increasingly popular surfboards from Port Beach in North Fremantle to Swanbourne Beach.
‘The Fig 2 Fig gives participants the opportunity to paddle in a large, controlled group with SUP professionals chaperoning those less experienced down the course, offering guidance along the way,’ the Fig Group’s Russel Morris said.
Prizes will be awarded for the youngest and oldest competitors, the best wipeout and fastest male and female competitors.
