The dynamic duo teamed up only two months prior to the Sydney nationals, where Georgia also won gold in the single scull event.
‘We were so excited because we hadn’t trained very much in the doubles as much as the other boats so we didn’t really expect what the competition would be like there,’ said Georgia.
For the Year 10 Perth Modern student, the success in Sydney is a great achievement as she only picked up an oar for the first time one-and-half years ago.
‘I just always wanted to try a different sport and when I heard about rowing I thought I’d give it a go,’ she said.

READ NOWLucy, in Year 11 at Methodist Ladies’ College, said she started out in the sport two-and a half years ago after swimming at a national level because of her school’s strong rowing program.
‘The head of rowing offered to let me join halfway though season and I really like it,’ Lucy said.
