SUMMER soccer is set to return to Rosalie Park for the sixth year.
The JB 6 A-Side league began as an idea from former Socceroo and Perth Glory captain Jacob Burns, and draws over 1000 local players spanning all ages.
Mr Burns, now the football director at the Glory, said he was inspired to get the league started after seeing his kids’ desire to keep playing the sport during the summer months, and ensure the next generation gets as much play as they can on a grass pitch.
“To see our players from all ages and genders enjoying the world game that has been my life and has given me so much is incredible,” he said.
“It is so fantastic to see the local community get together on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings and have so much fun.”
Mr Burns said his favourite thing about the league was seeing the family and community environment that had been created, with players making friends and enjoying themselves.
“Often parents pack picnics and watch the games on the beautiful summer evenings,” he said.
Registration for the JB 6 A-Side is open this Saturday, and the league kicks off on October 23.
Players can form their own teams or register as an individual player, and a team will be found for them.
