THE Perth Glory women’s team know they will have their work cut out when they take on reigning premiers Melbourne City in the W-League grand final at Perth Oval on Sunday.
New recruit Arianna Romero, an American import, said the team needed to keep a close eye on Melbourne’s Jess Fishlock, who scored the extra time winning goal against Canberra in the semi-final.
“For the most part we will play our own game and tighten up our defence,” the defender said.

READ NOW“It’s just little things that we have to focus on, fixing our mistakes from the last game, addressing those before we move forward on to looking at City.
“On attack, obviously Fishlock is their playmaker so we have to address in training what we are going to do.”
New recruit and fellow defender Natasha Rigby said the team would be hoping for a different outcome to the 2015 grand final, where it went down to Canberra United 3-1.
“Making the grand final is insane,” the 18-year-old said.
“Our team cohesion is incredible; I’ve never been part of a team so connected.
“We play so well together.
“We’re going into this final wearing our hearts on our sleeves, so hopefully we come home with a win.”
The W-League grand final is at 4.30pm on Sunday at Perth Oval.
