Port to Pub swim: Olympian Jarrod Poort to tackle 25km swim in 2017

The dual Olympian, who is currently Australia’s best open water swimmer, confirmed he would take on the 25km ultra-marathon swim.

The 22-year-old said he was already in training and was looking forward to the challenge.

“The Port to Pub’s 25km ultra-marathon is a relatively new event, but one I think sounds like a real challenge, even for myself,” he said.

“Swimming distances like these is not only a real test of physical preparation, but also a mental battle.

“I’ve swum in WA waters only a handful of times, but they hold very fond memories for me. I’m really looking forward to come over and swimming in the company of such an amazing and broad range of swimmers.”

The swim leaves from Leighton Beach in North Fremantle and finishes at Hotel Rottnest on Rottnest Island.

Event organiser Ceinwen Roberts said it was great to have the Olympian taking part in the event.
