YOUNG Perth surfers and bodyboarders have displayed their skills against some of the best in the State at the WA School Surfing Titles.

Margaret River Senior High School continued its dominance, winning an unprecedented 14th consecutive Champion School title at the Leighton Beach competition on September 3.

But it had competition from schools in Karrinyup, Churchlands, Duncraig and Ocean Reef, which were among the 23 WA schools involved.

St Mary’s Anglican Girls School students Alicia Galjaardt and Lani Stewart beat Margaret River to win the senior girls bodyboarding event and peers Chloe Campbell and Jaya Rule finished runner up in the junior girls surfing.

Newman College’s Ella Vullinovich and Tyler Connelly won the junior girls bodyboarding final ahead of St Mary’s team of Emily Langdon and Isabell Haydar.

In the boys, brothers Kai and Josh De Legh of Duncraig Senior High School took out the senior bodyboarding final and Prendiville Catholic College’s Taj Singh and Declan McDowell finished runner up in the juniors.

Winners will compete at the Australian Junior Surfing Titles in Margaret River in December.
