WEMBLEY Primary School has taken out the title of Most Outstanding School at the 2016 WA Tennis Industry Awards Night.

The school was recognised for its commitment to providing students with an opportunity to play tennis at school as well as provide links to their local club.

The school offers a before school tennis program in conjunction with Floreat Tennis Club each term, with 235 students attending each morning.

The school was only one winner from the western suburbs, with Cottesloe Tennis Club taking out the State League Champion Men’s Team award and Peter O’Dea from Cottesloe Tennis Club taking home the HA Young Plumbing Service to Tennis award.

Tennis West president Wayne Firns said the awards evening shone the light on 15 winners, who had contributed to the sport.

“The WA Tennis Industry Awards provide an opportunity to celebrate tennis in Western Australia and recognise the outstanding achievements of our State’s junior and senior players, officials, coaches, volunteers, administrators and clubs,” he said.

“Tennis is experiencing fantastic growth in WA at the moment and this event is a great opportunity to take stock, reflect on the achievements of everyone and enjoy each others company.”
