Trio selected in Australian Under-17 netball squad

SUNDAY Aryang, Amber Clemesha and Alkira Rodney were selected in the Australian Under-17 netball squad following the National Netball Championships held at the State Netball Centre recently.

The defender and shooters respectively will attend a training camp at Netball Australia’s Centre of Excellence this month working under Centre of Excellence coach Jill McIntosh and Australian Diamonds coach Lisa Alexander.

Netball WA chief executive Simon Taylor said Sunday, Alkira and Amber put on outstanding performances at the recent Championships.

“There is no higher honour than representing your country, and it’s one I am sure all three athletes will cherish,” Taylor said.

“We are very proud, not only of our athletes, but of the High Performance pathways in Western Australia that provide an environment for these players to perform to their potential.

“Sunday and Alkira are also wonderful role models for all aspiring athletes who are currently a part of our Culturally and Linguistically Diverse and Indigenous pathways respectively.”

All three players are preparing for the 2016 WA Netball League season with the Rangers.
