THE highly successful University Football Club has elected a new president for the upcoming season.

Tom O’Rourke was unanimously voted in to the top spot at a recent AGM after Simon Caldow stood down at the end of 2016.

O’Rourke has been at the club since 2005, with 200 games and five premierships under his belt.

He has also been on the committee for 10 years, and took out the Best Club Man award for 2016.

“I am excited for what 2017 holds,” O’Rourke said.

“With strong coaching panels in all grades, we hope to build on the success from recent seasons to continue the strong history of the UFC.”

O’Rourke will be assisted by a 24-man committee, which includes Lewis Fitch and Dwayne Lake taking on the role as joint Vice President.

Tim O’Shannassy will continue his role as Secretary and Patty Wilson has been elected as the club’s Treasurer for 2017.
