SUBIACO Floreat and Claremont-Nedlands started their Premier Cricket seasons with back-to-back wins over the weekend to sit in the top three.
The Lions looked to be cruising against Bayswater-Morley at Floreat Park Oval on Sunday at 2-94 before a middle-order collapse led to a stunning finish, with the hosts getting home by one wicket.
Cam Green finished 16 not out and hit the winning runs, as the 18-year-old WA rookie steered his side to victory.
Subiaco Floreat had smashed Scarborough by 10 wickets in Saturday’s fixture, led by Calum How (72 not out) and Alex Malcolm (56 not out).
Claremont-Nedlands also registered strong wins over title contenders Melville and Rockingham-Mandurah.
Tim David was the hero on Saturday taking 4-14 against Melville, while Chris Brabazon’s 62 was enough to get the Tigers a win against the Mariners on Sunday.
University started their season in difficult fashion going down to Midland-Guilford and Scarborough.
