THERE must be something in the water, or on the field, at Wembley Lacrosse Club.

Five players from the club have been selected as part of the 21-man Australian 2017 Under-23 Men’s Lacrosse team.

Churchlands resident Joseph Delich (22) will represent the country next month in Japan and South Korea, along with teammates Keegan Davies, Conner Davies, Samuel Koczwara and Cameron McRae.

“It’s pretty exciting, I’ve never been to South Korea,” Delich said.

“We leave on the 9th of June for Japan (the 2017 JLA Friendship Games) then a few days later go on to Jeju Island in South Korea for the main tournament (2017 APLU ASPAC Championships).”

Three other players from WA were also selected, including Subiaco’s Ashby Dennis, Wanneroo’s Declan Pittway and East Fremantle’s Ryan Hockey.

Head coach Gavin Leavy is also from the East Fremantle Lacrosse Club.

Delich, Koczwara and Conner Davies were also voted by players and coaching staff as the team’s co-captains.

“It’s great to see Wembley, and WA, so strong,” Delich said.

“It will be an honour to wear the green and gold, and represent Australia as a captain.”
