“But we also have to work to get the ball to her, which is where Bunga (Medhurst) and Madi (Robinson) come into play,” she said.

“It’s not just Bassett standing up in the attack end.”

Fellow West Australian April Brandley in goal defence combined well with McMeniman in wing defence and Sharni Layton in goalkeeper to maintain momentum for the home side.

Coach Lisa Alexander introduced Liz Watson into centre and Stephanie Wood into goal attack in the final quarter providing versatility through the midcourt and feeding at the circle edge.

“Steph introduced herself really well, it was good impact,” Alexander said.

“She does make everyone change their timing up a little bit, which actually assisted us, especially with Lizzy (Watson) in centre.”

The Diamonds will play the Silver Ferns in Melbourne on Sunday.
