“It is about celebrating all the volunteers who are the lifeblood of this great movement,” SLSWA president Craig Smith-Gander said.

During 2016-17, surf lifesavers spent more than 108,800 hours patrolling, conducted 580 rescues and had 1467 first aid incidents.

City Beach-based City of Perth SLSC members Brittany Houghton, Gabrielle Murphy, Holly Noack and Alysse Priddis were the team of the year for their efforts in open female beach relay.

Young achiever of the year was Floreat SLSC’s Sam Ranson, Margaret Bond from Cottesloe SLSC was the administrator of the year, and North Cottesloe SLSC was the patrol club of the year. Lifesaver of the Year was Adam Hoes (25), of Mandurah SLSC, who has been at the club for 12 years and done more than 1800 patrol hours.
