Western Suburbs soccer players head to Coffs Harbor for national champs

WESTERN suburbs soccer players have travelled to Coffs Harbour this week to compete in the Under 14 National Youth Championships.

Daniel Walsh, Oscar Barry and George Jackson from Claremont were selected in the WA State team, to take on the best players from around Australia.

Football West technical manager Cris Ola said the championships were important in identifying players who might be capable of progressing to the Australian Institute of Sport and Australian’s U17 Joeys team.

“WA players have been improving every year and there is an expectation that our teams will play a good and attractive brand of football,” he said.

“We have a good pool of talent and there is no reason why some of the boys heading over to Coffs this year can’t make it to the next level.”
